Progress at Manitou Rd.

Thanks once again to a client’s referral, I have been busy drawing plans, obtaining permits and am now remodeling a couple’s existing master bedroom and bathroom suite. My new clients were feeling cramped in their existing (and outdated) space. So with a small expansion into the backyard we are now making a very nice improvement to the clients’ self-described “Strip Mall Mediterranean” home’s layout and functionality.

 The clients’ prior remodel had left them with less-than-favorable memories of a project that dragged out interminably when their contractor took on additional work, leaving them sliding down the contractor’s priority list.  In addition, they had hesitations about the local building permit process and also wanted to obtain a detailed building plan tied to a firm working budget before breaking ground.

 We were able to obtain a building permit for them quickly and get the project started as scheduled.  Progress has been steady and our execution of their detailed plans precise, all while flexibly incorporating the clients’ finish products and design ideas, making for a fun project for all. I know I can’t wait to see all the unique ideas and finishes brought to fruition.

Best New Tool.

    

 Most people can get pretty excited about a shinny new tool being unwrapped, taken from the case and held in the light while imagining all the tasks that will be made so much easier. A female friend of mine even said her “New Tool” gave her a sense of independence and freed her from relying on male friends with tools to help with simple tasks like hanging a picture or tighten the loose screws on a door hinge. Well after 25 years in the trades I have found a new tool that has me excited and has become one of my favorites.  With this “New Tool” I can envision all of my projects looking better. I have always enjoyed looking at home Magazines mostly to view the photos and get ideas or to reassure the ones I already have. A kitchen magazine might have 10-20 photos of 3-5 different kitchens that are featured that month but that is it. How great would it be to be able to look through thousands of great high quality photos in categories like kitchens, bathrooms or living rooms and then even refine your search to modern or traditional kitchens. Want to look younger? You can with Botox or Good Bathroom Lighting. Wouldn’t we all like to look a little younger? I’m guessing most of us would that are over that magic age of 21. We are all familiar with Botox and its effect of reducing the appearance of wrinkles, but are you familiar with the positive effects of good bathroom lighting.
